I heard some people talking about gamers on their way home in the shuttle that I ride everyday. They were saying that their "kids" are already in their 20s to mid 20s and they still play games... one mentioned Ragnarok, and the other one mentioned "Dark Lord" so I was thinking MU.
They said that their "kids" were excelling at work and the like but have a quiet social life. They rarely go out, and they spend more time in front of the PC than what they were used to when they were that age. Then one person popped a statement: "Ang immature nga e. Lampas 20 na naglalaro pa rin ng games. Natandaan ko nung mga 22 na ako seryoso na ako sa trabaho." Then the other one followed up and agreed to the former's statement. It went on and on... them talking about how immature it was for their kids to keep on playing games at their age then at the end one of them said, "Yung anak ko nga e. Valedictorian ngayon pero puro laro naman. Kelan kaya sila magmamature?" and he stepped off. The guy who was left saw me carrying a pROSE mousepad and he looked at me. I said "Yes, I'm a gamer. I'm 25, I have a healthy social life, and I'm a supervisor(slash)manager at work. I play games because that's my past time. No offense po, pero siguro kelangan nyo rin intindihin mga anak nyo." He just replied "Hindi ko lang kasi maintindihan kung bakit hanggang ngayon naglalaro pa rin kayo sa edad nyong yan." I was about to get off but I left him a statement "If you play sports, that's your hobby; you enjoy it. We play games, that's our hobby; we enjoy it. I have to get off. Good evening po." I got off and I just smiled. I hope he understood. What about you guys? Have you ever asked yourself if gaming is a sign of immaturity? -------------------- |

joke Hmm... To comment... What they're saying is BS -------------------- "Well, to put it bluntly, you have no talent for keeping diaries. So from now on, write about what you want to do. Not what you did. I'll make everything you write about come true."

I mean...its just games. What is the big problem. Do they expect us to kill all our hobbies and be working machines?

Not really immaturity, we just happen to have a young heart, just like we never really grow up to our hobby at playing games. We have a "kid's heart" tayo at likewise on what you said, people are characteristically individual, some people have troubles accepting other people's likes and dislikes, just so happen about the hobby we tend to play is really for kids so they tend to think differently when they saw a 20's playing something like a childs game. But in this day and age I know some old people playing games older than our age group, like my friends mother she played ragnarok, in fact his whole family played ragnarok, his mom and dad even his uncles at age 40+. Modern times mean accepting modern way of life, if some people have hard time believing that, then who cares about them as long as we enjoy what we do in our lives doesn't matter at all.

I'm 17, my housemates and friends say I'm more serious than anyone else, and yet I still play games.

Video games are a big portion of my life, maybe too big of a portion. They are not a means of social interaction, despite what I might think. I should just go outside.

Just because not eveybody can afford something like that it doesn't mean we're immature. Its just games here are not as geared and as common as in america where they have cables for games not for kids but for the average gamer there of around 27.

But, you know what... it depends. That was my choice actually. If you play games as a hobby, I don't think it's a problem, but if you let gaming get in the way of your real-life priorities, then that's when it become a sign of immaturity.
What do you think? -------------------- |

That's why we are called individuals, we likes different things, if some people can't handle what we like then screw them as long as we don't do evil things, and we enjoy what we do and have fun doing it, then it doesn't really bother me what other people think. I'm a Physical Therapist real life, soon i will go again to the states to work again, it doesn't mean I'm immature for my age at 26 just because I happen to like games. Its my hobby and my life to run, no one else can tell me what i would like to do on my pastime.
